21 March is a global awareness day which has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012. The motto of this year’s event is: Leave no one behind!
EDSA has asked their members to show people with Down syndrome taking part in activities together with others. Starting on 1 March, we show 21 examples from across Europe to make it clear that no one should be left behind!
Alberto is an Italian boy with Down sindrome. In the small town of Cava dei Tirreni (South Italy), he has attended an acting school since he was 3 years old: it‘s his passion! That‘s a place where it‘s normal to do not count chromosomes because for everybody there is the chance to achieve their dreams! Just like in this photo where he plays „Tiniddu“, son of Liolà, in the comedy by Luigi Pirandello.
And afterwards, pizza with his acting mates is the best way to continue to be the protagonist. But this time, not for a play. For the life!
Alberto fa teatro da quando aveva 3 anni: è la sua passione! Alberto è un ragazzo con la sindrome di Down e, da molti anni, frequenta la scuola di teatro „Arte Tempra“ a Cava dè Tirreni, la sua piccola città nel Sud dell‘Italia.
A teatro è normale non contare i cromosomi perché per tutti è possibile coltivare i propri sogni e ritagliarsi il ruolo giusto: come in questa foto dove intepreta „Turiddu“ gioioso figlio di Liolà, nella commedia di Luigi Pirandello.
E dopo lo spettacolo, una buona pizza con la sua compagnia di teatro è il modo migliore per continuare a sentirsi protagonisti, questa volta, nella vita.
